I have lost a puzzle piece - I don't pretend i knew him well
but I do like a man who's the smallest bit false at times
means he cares about some soul outside of himself

there with the tide stretched thin
trying some foreign shore
there in the trembling waves
outside some old unimpressed port

you’ve seen distant mountains grow even as your cities crumble
lived among the inventions of man, worked at getting humbled
but the world is unfair to all of us, each in a special way
some find the weakness to go with the wind –
others, as strong, only stay
